The Palm House in the park of Schönbrunn Palace, which was constructed in 1882, is home to countless Mediterranean, tropical and subtropical plants. The Schönbrunn Palm House is the largest and last of its type to be constructed in continental Europe. It has a length of 113 metres and consists of a central pavilion and two lower lateral pavilions, which are linked by passages. Each of the pavilions contains a different climatic zone: a ‘cold’, a temperate and a tropical zone.
